At the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, Lee studied under internationally renowned ceramicist, the late Dr. Paul Donhauser, who mentored and influenced him greatly. After graduation in 1967, Lee co-owned and operated an HVAC business for 34 years, retiring in 2002. It was retirement that gave him the time to again pursue his love for ceramics. He built a studio adjacent to his Holy Hill home, and designed and constructed his own gas-fired kiln.
In the rolling hills of the Middle Kettle Moraine, Lee works to develop his pottery skills and ceramics business. This lovely, forested setting is an inspiration for his work, in color, form and texture. Although his potting began as a hobby after retirement, he has now begun to share this potting adventure with family and friends. His wife, Melodee, along with their three daughters and their families, all have been involved in the process and enjoy working together to help Lee in various ways.
